          Commom questions. Simple Answers.

          What container should I use?

Choose an old empty candle jar or a container that has been proven safe and can withstand high temperatures. Consider repurposing a 3” – 4” wide old vessel that is sturdy with non-flammable and non-porous properties.

          These will work:

          • Glass (jelly jars, canning jars)
          • Glazed pottery
          • Sealed tins
          • Any container with an equal width top and base

          These will not work

          • Flammable materials (wood, coconut shell, plastic)
          • Broken or chipped containers
          • Porous ceramic
          • Cement
What is the best way to clean my old candle jar?

It is recommended that you use a soft utensil to break apart the big chunk of wax left over and then pour hot water over it to melt any smaller pieces of wax remaining.

You can run the container through the dishwasher once most of the wax has been removed or scrub it with soap and hot water.

Alternatively: Pour very hot water directly into your container with leftover wax and wait for approximately 30 minutes or until the wax is lifted and cooled on the surface. You can now use your hands to break apart the wax and dispose of it properly.

How to dispose of leftover wax?

          Vegetable waxes are biodegradable.

Paraffin waxes can only be put in the garbage.

Our coconut soy blend wax is so soft you can clean the jar or tin without much effort. Our wax blend and wick are completely biodegradable. Recycling is possible with our metal wick tabs.

What is the best way to burn my candle?

We recommend you allow your candle to melt all the way to the sides every time is burned to prevent tunneling.

Trim the wick to 1/4 to 1/2” above the surface before burning your candle.

You should also allow your candle to burn for longer the first time it is lit (2-3 hours).

What is the maximum time a candle can be left burning?
When you burn a candle for longer than 4 hours, the carbon will start to accumulate in the wick and can cause it to “mushroom”. This leads to not only an upset flame but also smoke and soot release.
How should I store my candle?
Store your candles in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight. The heat will melt the wax and affect its fragrance as well!
Are your candle vegan and cruelty-free?
We’re passionate about creating products that not only work well, but also fit into our stringent standards for animal protection. All of the goods we make are vegan and never tested on animals – do you know of any companies out there that still do this?
What is the reason for a weak flame?

One reason is you have chosen a container that is too large for our wick which is designed to be used in a 3″ wide container.

Another reason: In order to safely light your candles and make them more enjoyable, you should trim your wicks before lighting them each time.

Cutting the wick just right is crucial for a successful burn. Cutting too short will result in a lack of heat. As a result, the flame cannot generate sufficient energy to burn the wax, eventually drowning out the flame.

There should be about 1/4 – 1/2″ of wick measured up from the surface of the candle to ensure good combustion qualities.

To fix this, use an alternative heat source to melt the wax and carefully discard the hot wax pool to get some room around your wick, or scrape away at what’s surrounding your wick with a household utensil when it’s cool.

Why is my candle flame too high?
You may have too much wick length if your candle has a tall flame. You can fix this issue by trimming down the wick to 1/4″ above solid wax before every burn. If the candle gets too hot, it will burn quickly and not last long. To prevent this problem, make sure the area where your candle is burning isn’t drafty!
What should I do if my candle is emitting black smoke?
Too many people forget to trim their wicks before burning candles, leading them straight into black smoke. As a result of an overly long wick, a chemical reaction is thrown off, resulting in excess soot or no wax burning at all. A simple fix for it would be cutting down your wick’s length to approx. 1/4″ above the wax surface.
Why are my candles covered in frosting?
Natural vegetable waxes such as soy and palm wax may form frosting. It is purely cosmetic and does not affect its burning performance.
Why is the top of my candle not even after burning?
Vegetable waxes’ rate of cooling can be inconsistent and unfortunately, once it’s been lit and extinguished, it’s difficult to control. There are times when it will dry with a rough, uneven surface, and there are times when it will dry smoothly.
How far can I burn my candles?
As you near the end of your jar, be mindful not to burn it any lower than 1/2″. When this occurs, hot wax can start seeping out onto cooling glass, causing it to break and be unsafe.
What’s the shelf-life of the candle?
We recommend burning the candles within 12 – 18 months for best results. Our scented candles can also lose some fragrance over time, but you can take many steps to ensure they last longer (and smell great) after they’ve been purchased. Store them away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
